More Poems

Here is part of a poem titled ‘Adversity’ (author unknown) that is meaningful to me:

The tree that never had to fight
For sun and sky and air and light,
But stood out in the open plain
And always got its share of rain,
Never became a forest king
But lived and died a scrubby thing.
----------
Good timber does not grow with ease.
The stronger wind, the stronger trees.
The further sky, the greater length.
The more the storm, the more the strength.
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In trees and men good timbers grow.
--------------------------------

Though unsophisticated, these two little poems written, I think, by children
resonate with me:

I am a child of God and this one thing I know:
You, too, are a child of God
Not on earth for merely show.
For you and I came here to grow.
----------------------------------
I am the best at what I do
And I do all I can.
I am the best in at least one thing
When so I think, then so I am.
